Martin Scorsese

Martin Scorsese is another really famous and talented director, he has directed, produced and written some great films. These films consist of Roman Catholic, American Identity, modern crime and Gang conflict. He has been a part of some of the greatest films to hit the silver screen. Such as The Wolf of Wall Street, Goodfellas, Taxi Driver and The Departed. He is known for his metamorphic ability to work with a range of different genres. Like he could do a comedy in Shark Tale and then do Shutter Island which is a Thriller.

He has been known to work with Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro a lot of the time with film such as The Wolf of Wall Street and The Departed for DiCaprio and Mean Streets and Goodfellas for De Niro. They both have worked with Scorsese a number of times; this makes people consider him to be an auteur. He also uses a lot of music from the rolling stones.

Scorsese is known for a variety of shot types such as Dolly-Zoom and Pull Focus. Dolly-Zoom is a camera effect that undermines visual perception. This effect is achieved by zooming in a camera to adjust the angle of view often referred as the field of view (FOV). Pull Focus or rack focusing is the act of changing a lens’s focus distance setting to correspond allowing to subject physical distance. He uses freeze frames to introduce characters. Scorsese has won 30 awards including and Oscar.
