Tim Burton is very much known for his dark, gloomy film style, he has written and directed films like Beetle Juice, Corpse Bride and Alice and Wonderland. All of this films have a reoccurring product to the films, which is the colouring (dark, gloomy and sinister looks also Johnny Depp).
What makes him an Auteur, well his use of Johnny Depp in his films gives us a reason for him to be as Johnny Depp is in a lot I mean a lot of Burton’s films. Colour as well is a large part of us thinking he is an auteur because he uses Gothic, Mystery and surreal states in his films giving him his own artistic styles on the film he writes and directs.
He uses a wide range of shots, such as Eye level shots, this gives the effect of seeing the world through the characters eyes, like in Alice in wonderland Alice is falling through the rabbit hole and everything falling is surrounding as if it is though her perspective. Burton likes his sets to have a fake like look or a deliberate comedic look. Such as Beetle Juice his grave yard home that’s structured like a toy set, also Burtons Batman films the city of Gotham the buildings look like they are made from card they buildings don’t look real.
